blown tyre and made it there on the spare tyre only realise, to get
the blown tyre repaired we would have had to have stayed there until
Tuesday.
So we decided today (sunday ) to run the guantlet and head for Cobar (350Km
away) to get new tyres for the back (we already have new tyres on the
front when we left Sydney), as fate would have it... we left White
Cliffs at 9am this morning and were on the way to Cobar, when 20km
out, our spare blew!!!
With a few dramas with the mobile coverage and the NRMA (2 hours
later) we managed to get a tow to Cobar to a tyre shop, where we
thought we would have to wait outside for the the night (being a
sunday and all) to get new tyres for monday. BUT, as luck would have
it, the tyre shops owner happened to be there and he kindly fixed and
fitted our tyres for us on the spot (his name was Honest Don, true
name), maybe not not so honest, because he charged us $444.00 for
three tyres (sunday rates I put it down to).
Soon after we checked into the local camp site and hooked on the power, Matt made dinner and we had a big glass of cheap red vino to settle our nerves; what a day...
